Lou is well-known in the industry as an insightful strategist and savvy marketer, bringing his skills to a broad range of blue-chip brands – from burgers to beer, stocks to semi-conductors, telecommunications to tires, cars to credit, and skincare to software. He also regularly lends his insights on consumers and brands to the business press, most recently as the expert commentator on the CNBC one-hour special report, “The Oprah Effect.”

Lou brings to every challenge a passion and persistence to uncover the insight that will tighten the bond between consumers and brands, and in turn creates sustainable business success for his clients. He has won numerous effectiveness and creativity awards for brands such as Microsoft, McDonald’s, Michelin, Anheuser-Busch/InBev, General Motors, State Farm and Mars Wrigley.
Prior to joining the Euro Chicago Group, Lou was U.S. Chief Strategic Officer and Co-Chairman of the DDB Worldwide Planning Group at DDB Chicago for six years, where he provided executive strategic oversight to all DDB USA brands and played a pivotal role in DDB’s business-building efforts around the globe. Prior to DDB, Lou was Worldwide Director of Account Planning on Microsoft at McCann Worldgroup.
James Lou was born in Burma, is fluent in Chinese Mandarin, was raised and educated in Boston, and lives in Chicago with his wife. During those precious instances when he isn’t traversing time zones to meet business demands, James likes to drive fast cars and drive cars fast.
